99 Percent of Umm Al Houl Power Plant complete

Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani made an inspection visit to Umm Al Houl Power Plant of Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC).

DOHA: Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani made an inspection visit to Umm Al Houl Power Plant of Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC).

During the visit, the Prime Minister was briefed on the progress in the station which has been completed by 99 percent and is scheduled to be officially opened soon.

Umm Al Houl Power Plant is one of the largest desalination and power generation plants in the region with a daily production capacity of 136 million gallons of water and 2520 MW of electricity and with a total cost of approximately QR11bn.

Once completed, Umm Al Houl Power Plant shall provide 25 percent of Qatar’s needs of electricity and 30 percent of its water needs. The plant applies state-of-the-art technologies that conserve the environment and ensure highest standards in water production and electricity generation.

At the end of the visit, the Prime Minister praised the achievements made in this huge project, which operation depends on highly efficient and skilled Qatari engineers and technicians, lauding the company’s efforts in the policy of jobs Qatarisation.
